"Fifty years of French Quarter nights, and the trumpet never lied once."
# Harold "Hap" Buchanan Hap Buchanan started playing trumpet in the clubs off Bourbon Street in 1966 and never really stopped. He played funerals, festivals, late-night sessions, and Sunday mornings with equal commitment and no discernible ego. Musicians who worked with him remember a man who listened more than he soloed and always made the room sound better. He taught dozens of young players. He left behind a worn-out horn, a shelf of records he never stopped adding to, and a nickname nobody remembers the origin of.
